Learn about Creating Habits & Time Management
I'll be sharing what I learned from several books here and on Tuesday's Facebook Live that will help us all learn to develop a new TIME WITH GOD Habit. Here are just a few:
Living Forward by Michael Hyatt
A podcast by Michael Hyatt gave me the idea for this course. He has kept a morning routine habit for thirty years including prayer and Bible reading.
Hyatt explains how to design a life with the end in mind, determining in advance the outcomes we desire and path to get there. In this step-by-step guide, they share proven principles that help readers create a simple but effective life plan so that they can get from where they are now to where they really want to be--in every area of life. Each of us has but one life to live on this earth. What we do with it is our choice. Are we drifting through it as spectators, reacting to our circumstances when necessary and wondering just how we got to this point anyway? Or are we directing it, maximizing the joy and potential of every day, living with a purpose or mission in mind?
Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley
Why is it that so many people start out with a clear mental picture of where they want to be relationally, financially, and professionally and yet years later find themselves far from their desired destination? Why do our expectations about our own future often go unmet?
The principle of the path is at work in your life every single day. Once embraced, this compelling principle will empower you to identify and follow the path that leads to your desired destination. And this same principle will enable you to avoid life-wasting detours along the way.
The Little Things by Andy Andrews
Not only has Andy Andrews authored several of my favorite fiction books but also several excellent nonfiction books including The Little Things. In it he detail some of the exclusive material that he uses to teach and coach some of the most successful corporations, teams, and individuals around the world. In his unique humorous style, Andrews provides common-sense perspective and a game plan for meeting various challenges, such as:
- Understanding our spiritual connection with God and how that affects planning and outcome
- Managing life in a society that seems to be constantly offended by something or someone
- Creating change that is permanent and not short term
- Dramatically increasing results by harnessing the fraction of margin between second place and first
- Identifying the very moment when asking the question why? multiplies the success of an endeavor
- Recognizing the smallest details that ensure the greatest success
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential.
At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.
